Stolen truck smashes into cars on Mayor’s Walk

At approximately 2.25pm on 30th January last, a rigid body truck was taken from the Lisduggan area after the vehicle was left unattended with keys left inside. A male took the vehicle and drove into town. Another male was also in the vehicle and may have been picked up along the way.

This vehicle crashed intofour cars which were parked on the Mayors Walk, one parked car in Butler Court in Newgate Street, another parked in Butchers lane and another parked car in Rice Park where the occupants of the truck fled the scene.

These incidents are being investigated and

Gardai are seeking witnesses. Gardai are also following a definite line of enquiry in this case.

On the same day, Tuesday afternoon, 30th January Gardai arrested and interviewed 5 females in relation to the public disorder incident in the City last Friday week evening.

All have been now released from custody and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
