Kippers Star Shone Brightly

A well attended benefit meeting in aid of Ferrybank Scouts (celebrating their 40th anniversary) featured the final of the Friends of Kilcohan and Waterford Track Supporters Club A2 550 yard stake plus the three first round heats (four to qualify) of the Pat O Hehir, Greyhound Transporter, A6 race dogs stake.

Despite being a number of days in season the Kieran O Brien owned and Jim Scully trained Kippers Star (Hondo Black-Kippers Doll) 4/1 ran out a gutsy winner of the A2 final in a decent 30.17. After a bright start from trap two ‘Kippers' did well to see off the back stretch challenge of Leahs Impact and Allis Pippa. Knuckling down to the task in hand ‘Kippers' saw the 550 yard trip out to the limit to defeat ‘Allis' by one and a half lengths. The lightly raced winner registering her seventh career success from fourteen race outings will now head to the breeding paddocks.
