Huge entry for Waterford to Tramore Road race

400 competed in the 49 th Annual Bluewall Sponsored Paddy Flanagan Memorial Waterford to Tramore Road Race last Friday evening and Andrew Connick Ferrybank who won the race in 2013 was first home again this year in 39 minutes and 9 seconds to win the Paddy Flanagan Perpetual Trophy, Ger Forde Slaney Olympic was second in 39.27 and Emmet Kelly Waterford Triathlon Club was third in 40.13. First lady home and the first winner of the Inaugural Tebay Ladies Perpetual Trophy was Ruth Fitzgerald Waterford AC in 44.32 , Sally Forristal St Joseph's was second in 45.28 and Adele Walsh St Senan's was third in 46.06 Waterford AC won the men's team and West Waterford the women's. Secondary Schools Fixtures

This Wednesday with a 12 noon start the East Munster Girls Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships are at the RSC and many athletes from Waterford schools will be competing in four grades,minor, junior, intermediate and senior,other school fixtures coming up are East Munster Boys Secondary Schools Championships Templemore 11.30 am Thursday May 10 th, Munster Secondary Schools Finals are in Castleisland Saturday May 19th.

Portlaw 5 miles on Friday

Race 2 in the Outfield Sports Series the O'Neill's Pharmacy Tom Jordan Memorial Road Race over 5 miles is in Portlaw this Friday at 7.30 pm organised by Carrick on Suir Road Runners. Entries taken from 6 pm to 7.15pm in Portlaw National School The Proceeds go to Portlaw Red Cross Branch. On Sunday the Munster Championship Half and full Marathon Championships are in Limerick

Ton Le Ghaoite in RSC on Saturday

The Annual Wind Sprints meeting at the RSC on Saturday which starts at 12 noon will see some of Ireland's top athletes competing male and female. The events are 100 m, 100m and 110 m hurdles, 200 m and also a 400 metres this year, javelin and high jump. Entries close this Tuesday and athletes must be 16 years or over in year of competition - see website.
