Many Munster Schools titles won.

On Saturday last the Irish Life Health Munster Secondary Schools Track and Field Championship finals were at Cork IT and athletes from Waterford schools won several gold and also lots of silver and bronze medals.The following were those that won titles; Senior 5000 m Miceál Power St Augustine's, s/chase, Mark Twomey do, triple jump James Murphy, long jump Shane Monagle both Árd Scoil na Mara Tramore, javelin Órlaith O'Brien Yeats College, 3Km walk, Anna O'Connor Waterpark, St Declan's Kilmacthomas 4 x 400 metres boys team. International News

On Sunday last Ben Kiely Ferrybank won a 400 metres hurdle race in France in 52.10 seconds. In Podebrady in the Czech Republic also on Sunday the European Cup of Race Walking took place and the Irish senior men's 20km team put up a great performance in taking the bronze team medals behind Spain and Germany. The team was Alex Wright 6 th, Rob Heffernan 13 th and Cian McManamon 26th. In the 50km race Ireland's Brendan Boyce was just out of the medals finishing in 4th place for a terrific placing.. In the under 20 women's race over 10 km Órla O'Connor Waterford AC was 21st in 51 minutes 39 seconds out of the 37 starters a very creditable effort.

County Championships

The final day of the County Championships was held at the RSC on Sunday last with all the clubs in the county represented. Many athletes won more than one title with Cathal Scanlon Waterford AC winning four under 16, his brothers David u13 and Andrew u 12 both had three wins as had Shane Monagle Tramore junior, Emily O'Mahony Waterford u17 and Jeff Halley Tramore under 14. Medal winners came from Waterford, West Waterford, Ferrybank, Tramore, KCK, Finisk Valley, Blackwater and An Ghaeltacht Ard Mhor.Full results now with all clubs.

Ardmore Details

160 competed in the 22nd Annual An Tobar 5 Miles Road Race in Ardmore last evening and first home in was Kevin O'Leary East Cork in 26 minutes 59 seconds, Anthony Flynn was second in 27.39 and Mark Rowe was third in 27.45 both West Waterford. First lady home was Kate Veale in 32.15, Sandra Prendergast was second in 33.05 both West Waterford and Sinéad Brannigan Waterford as third in 33.18. It was race 4 of the Intersport Elvery's/ Asics Series

Thomas Barr

The first competitive race of the season for Olympian Thomas Barr is on Thursday in Manchester and on Saturday in Oordegem in Belgium Ben Kiely, Paul Murphy and Niamh Whelan all Ferrybank are competing.

Combined Events and AAI Games

On Saturday next the National Combined Event Championships are in Morton Stadium in Dublin for all ages and on Sunday the AAI senior games will see Ireland's leading athletes in action at the same venue, starting time both days 10 am. Waterford athletes will be among the entries..

Touraneena 5 Km on Friday

Another race in the Intersport Elvery's/Asics Series takes place on Friday next May 26 th. Its the Touraneena 5 Km starting at 7.30 pm Entries in Tourannena fro 6.30 pm and the venue is just off the Dungarvan/Clonmel road approx. 10 miles from Dungarvan..

On Friday week June 2 nd the Deadman's 5 Miles is in Carrick on Suir and its Race 3 of Outfield Sports Series. Another race up coming is the Annual Faithlegg Golf Course 4 miles run on WednesdayJune 14 th at 7 pm and looking further ahead the Annual Liz Hayes Memorial run in Ballyduff Lower is on Friday August 11 th at 7.30 pm.

Mile Races at RSC to suit all.

Waterford A.C. are delighted to announce the return of the OPEN TO EVERYBODY “how fast can you run a mile” series. Over the summer they will be holding five one-mile time trial nights in the RSC. Each event is fully insured and takes place on the last Thursday of the month for May, June, July, August, and September. On the night, there will be a number of graded mile runs so it is just you against the clock. Come back the next night and try and beat your time. For 2017, there's also an 800-meter option for Juveniles 15 yrs and under Entry fee €2 Time Scale each evening : Registration and warm up at 6pm. First run at 6:15pm and this Thursday May 25 th is the first in the series.

Passage East Hurling Club Fund Raising Swim

The second Annual Beat The Ferryman Open Water Swim 2017 is a 600 metres swim from Ballyhack, Co Wexford to Passage East, Co Waterford ( A Leinster to Munster Swim). The event takes place on Sunday week 4th June 2017 at 2.45 pm. Competent swimmers of 15 years and upwards may register online at Competitors shall be ferried to Ballyhack for the race start from Passage courtesy of The Passage East Car Ferry. There are Wet Suit & Non Wet Suit categories, prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category for both male and female. Race Headquarters is in Passage East Community Centre where all those entered must check in on the day there A limit will be imposed on entries for safety and logistical reasons so the advice is enter before next Sunday and don't miss out.
