Waterford Today weekly horoscopes

Wednesday 2nd May - Tuesday 8th May

Aries 21st March-21st April

The subject of addressing issues that have been ignored comes up this week and is similar to last week's advice to release anything that had been bubbling under the surface. You're done with papering over cracks and making do with the situation as it is and are keen to sort out a certain issue for once and for all. You may be feeling the urge to splurge with either cash or compliments, that's great, but don't over do it!

Taurus 22nd April-21st May

Your energy, drive and exuberance are boosted this week with the Sun travelling through your sign. You'll find any tasks set to you are easily accomplished. You're keen to impress and people seem to fall for your particular charms quite easily. It's almost as if you can do no wrong - almost - you could find that you talk yourself into biting off more than you can chew. The advice is to enjoy the challenges but keep a level head too.

Gemini 22nd May-21st June

If the powers that be allow, you should think about trying to schedule a break away, even for a long weekend, before your birthday season arrives. Once that happens it will be all systems go, especially in any area to do with self-promotion, whether that's 'bigging yourself up' when asking for a raise, or shining a light on your talents when it comes to applying for a new job. Stay out of any gossip circles, they turn far too quickly.

Cancer 22nd June-22nd July

Similar to our Gemini friends, the advice for Cancer this week is to try where possible to recharge the batteries while you can. Soon enough you'll be in high demand. Even someone close to you seems less than enamoured with you at the moment, making yourself less available to them might help. On the work business front, the stars advise you to look towards untapped markets and not to overfish one pond.

Leo 23rd July-23rd August

Expect the unexpected on the work front Leo, the stars suggest there are some big changes coming down the line. Look on each of these as an opportunity to show your versatility and your

ability to accept new ideas and adapt to new procedures - not very easy for Leos, who don't really deal well with change!

However, in this instance you will be able to see that change is exactly what's needed and long overdue.

Virgo 24th August-23rd September

The stars are inviting you to explore new experiences this week Virgo. Don't limit yourself to the same old, same old any longer. And don't let niggling uncertainty stop you either. Unexpected outcomes rarely arrive as the result of doing the same thing, day in and day out. As the old adage goes "if you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always got." So take a chance, a leap of faith, into the unknown.

Libra 24th September-23rd October

This week it's all about how you present yourself Libra. We all know the importance of making a good first impression, but it doesn't stop there. It's never too late to show someone what they might have missed about you early on, or to enlighten them on skills you've gained recently, or developments you've made since your initial meeting. Look to do some decluttering, especially around your finances.

Scorpio 24th October-22nd November

You may begin to see someone close to you in a whole new light this week Scorpio. This doesn't have to be a positive or a negative shift, it could be as simple as looking at them through a different filter, seeing a side to them you had never before considered and having a more rounded and less one-dimensional opinion of them as a result. A new face could arrive in your neighbourhood who sets the cats among the pigeons.

Sagittarius 23rd November-21st December

It could be a case of "let go or be dragged" for many Sagittarians this week. Check your work / life balance in particular. If you feel behind the curve or out of the loop take a look at where in your life are you clinging to an outdated way of working or thinking? Ask yourself why you find it so hard to let go and move on where something is not working. Look into how others operate and see where you can borrow new ideas.

Capricorn 22nd December-20th January

It could very well be one of those 'roll up your sleeves' weeks Capricorn as it seems people you thought you could rely on could let you down at the last minute, not intentionally of course, but it means you may have to do your own work as well as someone else's if everything that needs to is going to get done. How you relate to your nearest and dearest may come under the spotlight. Could communications be improved?

Aquarius 21st January-19th February

Mars in your sign for the next while could brings it's fair share of conflict around relationships and especially familial ties. You may feel like you're the only one rowing the boat at times, and while you have plenty of drive and determination, it would be nice to feel that you had back up. In work too, you may feel like you have a mountain to climb every day, don't be afraid to speak up if you feel colleagues are not pulling their weight.

Pisces 20th February-20th March

Explore your creative side this week Pisces, and look around you for inspiration. Are there items in your home with a common theme that you hadn't noticed before, or do certain images or scenarios appear constantly in your dreams? Tuning into these subtle energies can bring a wealth of happiness and open our eyes to new interests, as well as bringing us into new groups of people we may never have encountered otherwise.

Letters to the Editor

  • Waiting can be bad for your He...

When the latest statistic that waiting times for patients had risen to their highest level yet, there can't have been too many people that were surprised. There are now over 700.000 people on waiting lists with over 50.000 of them children. That so many people are waiting for treatment in one of the most developed economies in the world is truly frightening. Of course you can take into account the underfunding of the health sector during the economic downturn but it still wouldn't fully explain why so ma …
