A full ban on visitors is in place at Dungarvan Community Hospital, in a bid to curb spread of the influenza virus there.

The HSE’s South East Community Healthcare services are appealing for the co-operation of all concerned, as the ban is in place in the interest of patient care Dungarvan Community Hospital regrets this inconvenience but it is necessary at this time to prevent the spread of these illnesses to both patients and staff.

Where appropriate, mobile phone contact between families has been advised as an alternative to visiting.

Exceptional circumstances will be catered for.

The situation at Dungarvan Community Hospital will be reviewed daily.

    HealthCatastropheMary Harney, when she was Minister for Health, many years ago, declared that 300 people on trolleys in hospital corridors was a 'health crisis'. Now here we are in 2018 and we have nearly twice that number of people on trolleys within a hospital system that barely seems able to cope.
