Waterford Today weekly horoscopes

Wednesday 13th December - Tuesday 19th December

Aries 21st March-21st April

With Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius, the chances of both travel plans and communications going awry right now is high. Pay extra special attention to your car, if you haven’t had it serviced or know your tyres are past their best, don’t take any chances until you get it back in tip-top condition. Watch your words, slow down and think before you speak, lest you talk yourself right into a tight spot that no words will talk you out of.

Taurus 22nd April-21st May

Mercury retrograde could play havoc with your perception of events and crossed wires are the order of the day. There’s a very good chance of getting the wrong end of the stick when it comes to someone you’re close to, so hold back on any accusations of wrong doing until you have the full story. Hear all - say nowt. Think carefully too about who you invite into your inner sanctum, especially if an old flame resurfaces from the distant past.

Gemini 22nd May-21st June

You may feel like you have to constantly explain yourself this week Gemini, as if you’re speaking a different language to those around you. You can thank Mercury retrograde who is playing havoc with communications and all things spoken. You could even say out loud something you meant to keep to yourself. And there you go and have to explain yourself again! It might be best to stay schtum this week altogether or to have a generic response prepared to keep you out of hot water.

Cancer 22nd June-22nd July

A relationship that has been difficult at times, could find resolution now either through a clearing of the air, a parting of company completely or by you simply releasing all expectation around it either way. Feelings that have been suppressed, might come to the surface to be cleared and you can finally let go of all the angst that was associated with it. Let it out, scream, shout, cry, walk it off, have a bath, whatever you need to do to release it.

Leo 23rd July-23rd August

You could be asked to host some guests over Christmas, either to dinner or to stay for a few days. Make sure the guests in question are compatible with your domestic situation and that you are in rude health to play host. This is a very loving and creative time, with the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Saturn all in Sagittarius. And it’s not just your imagination that will be fertile now. Anything begun now will bear great fruit next year.

Virgo 24th August-23rd September

Issues on the home and family front that have lingered for the last three years, will, with the departure of Saturn from Sagittarius, begin to dissipate now. Fresh energy around home and family will emerge and you will find spending time with your nearest and dearest nourishes your soul deeply. In work, you could start to view a project or something you’ve been trying to get over the line for a while differently and wonder if it’s all been worth it.

Libra 24th September-23rd October

An old argument, with an old friend or sibling, that you thought long forgotten, could rear it’s head again and you could be surprised at the strong feelings it still evokes in everyone concerned. You can thank Mercury retrograde for opening up old wounds. Someone you haven’t seen in years could re-emerge from out of nowhere and something you’ve been waiting for what seems like an age could eventually arrive.

Scorpio 24th October-22nd November

There’s a dream-like quality to your life right now Scorpio, as if your deepest desires hover on the cusp of becoming reality and in a way this is true. Everything you wish to achieve is as possible as it can be, all the potentiality and planetary support is there, it just needs the final ingredient, your focus and determination, to get it over the line. Whatever it is you want, put your shoulder behind the wheel now and push.

Sagittarius 23rd November-21st December

This is not the best time to make any big decisions, sweeping statements or ultimatums, or to sign any major contracts, wait until after Mercury finishes it’s retrograde cycle on the 22nd of the month, or you could find all is not as it seems. Be careful too with what you say and what you write, especially in an online forum, chat room or some other social media platform. What you might mean in jest, might translate altogether differently.

Capricorn 22nd December-20th January

Let the walls come down Capricorn, allow yourself some space to breathe and release. The stoic reserve and never-say-die attitude is all well and good, but it has it’s place. Sometimes a much softer tack is required to achieve balance in life. So seek out the gentler side of things, music, poetry and dance. Examine your emotions now too, especially deep-seated ones from the past. What can’t be faced, can never be cleared.

Aquarius 21st January-19th February

With Mercury retrograde it’s the perfect time to back track yourself over areas you feel you could improve upon in work, at home or in your social circle. It’s a great time too, to clear out, declutter and make way for the new when it arrives. And as a bonus you could end up finding something precious you thought you’d lost a long time ago, something of great personal value.

Pisces 20th February-20th March

Something that has seemed to drag on for the last three years, somewhere in your life where you’ve felt stuck, or something you feel that has been a test of your endurance, could finally come to a conclusion now that Saturn ends it’s time in Sagittarius. It could feel like a weight or a veil suddenly lifts, and you can now see clearly the possibilities that lie ahead. There are some that won’t be as happy as you to simply move on, don’t allow them to hold you back.

Letters to the Editor

  • Waiting can be bad for your He...

When the latest statistic that waiting times for patients had risen to their highest level yet, there can't have been too many people that were surprised. There are now over 700.000 people on waiting lists with over 50.000 of them children. That so many people are waiting for treatment in one of the most developed economies in the world is truly frightening. Of course you can take into account the underfunding of the health sector during the economic downturn but it still wouldn't fully explain why so ma …
