Anna Jordan Play This April At Garter Lane

Stagemad Theatre Company are proud to announce the premiere of Anna Jordan's new play "The January Show" at Garter Lane Arts Centre, this April. In describing her latest stage play she went on to say: “We all stumble across hard times in life and sometimes it's how we deal with it makes all the difference”. She went on to talk about the themes explored in her work:

"The play is a coming of age story told through music and memory of a young girls fight with obsession, sexuality, loss, dysfunction and the desire to overcome the whirl that is this world. Nobody is perfect, especially your parents but what doesn't break you will make you but be sure not to break"

Anna is a modpoet, writing facilitator, mother of three and publicans daughter. This is her first full play since 'The Bannisters' in 2012 and her fourth production with Stagemad. Although she is a continuous active writer and has staged many shorts, the craft of scripting a full play as such is a scary and consuming process.

Terrifying but of course worthy.

Anna is involved heavily in the arts scene in Waterford with projects such as Waterford Walls, Modword open mic sessions, Spraoi, Waterford Youth Arts and so on."Waterford is an inspiration in itself and a wonderful place to be artistically" she said passionately. The show goes on stage April 6th-9th. Tickets from €15.Booking now open at Garter Lane Box Office 051 855038. Online http://www.garterlane.ie

Attack in LondonThe recent Islamist terror attack in London is the latest reminder that the extremists have not gone away and have not given up. As one commentator succinctly put it the weapons at the man's disposal, a car and a knife, are the sort of implements that everyone in the country has access to. In that context it is becoming much clearer that it is the environments in which these people are allowed to grow and develop their warped ideologies that are the most pressing areas of concern when it …
