Katie Buckley, a student at Waterford Institute of Technology has won third place in the All Ireland Scholarship poster design competition. The competition, which was launched last September invited second and third level students to design a poster to promote the All Ireland Scholarships, a scheme sponsored by JP McManus that provides financial assistance for third level students across the country.

Katie, who was in the third level category, fought off stiff competition from over three hundred students from across the 32-counties of Ireland who took part in the competition.

For her prize, Katie received a cheque for €750. First prize of €3,000 and runner up €1,250 were also given to other successful entrants at second and third level.

It is already being hailed as one of the funniest new Irish comedy plays to ever hit the stage and is one not to be missed. Following sell out shows in Ireland and a very successful run in Chicago, It's The Real McCoy comes to Waterford.

The play is set in rural Ireland in the mid 1960's and its main character is Madge Mulloy who has spent over 40 years of her life in despair following the disappearance of her husband for no apparent reason.

What unfolds on stage has to be seen to be believed. The new parish curate Fr. Michael McCoy gets news about her husband Tom and his wishes to return to her to explain why he left. However, her only child Maura has fallen in love with the local postman Martin Daly and she doesn't approve.

Summer Play Auditions For Ages 9 to 13!

Little Red Kettle Theatre Company are delighted to announce that they will be holding auditions for their up and coming annual Summer Play 2013. Following on from the success of their production of Pearl's Colour Dream which starred over 50 local young actors and most recently their critically acclaimed Winter Interactive Tour Programme, Wiggily Tom and the Little Elf that Lost her Story, Little Red Kettle are back once again to give young people between 9 and 13 a fantastic opportunity to be part of one of our biggest productions. Little Red Kettle will be producing The Alizar Tree which was written by Ben Hennessy and will be directed by Liam Meagher and Ben Hennessy. Hullabaloo's wonder filled "The Saturday Space" runs again at Tramore's Coastguard Cultural Centre, Love Lane.

The Saturday space is a creative and expressive programme for children offering arts and drama through play.

The workshops restart on the 13th April and run for 6 weeks. The cost is €40 and all materials are included. Booking is essential on 051 391 656 as places are limited.

Workshops are age specific with 11am slot dedicated to 3 and 4 year olds, 12 noon slot 5-7 yr olds and 1pm for our 8-10 year olds.

2012 has been a busy year for Propeller Palms following the release of our debut album "All In This Together" which received extensive regional and national reviews including a 4 star review by Jackie Hayden from Hot Press. We have brought the album and our show to audiences around Ireland including The Volvo Ocean Race, Electric Picnic, Festival of the Fires, support for Howard Marks "Mr Nice" tour, Jagermeister freezer sessions and many packed indoor and outdoor local gigs and festivals. We were also asked to record a cover track for the Simon Community Charity album "The Shortest Night", alongside such artists as Pugwash and Neil Hannon, Jape and BiPolar Empire. The Album was launched in The Button Factory where we performed our cover of Everyday People by Sly and The Family Stone.

Downes' at Thomas Street play host to unique collection of people this Bank Holiday Sunday. The decks start spinning at 9pm till late into the night , this one is going to be special as we dusting off all those Flomotion, Roxy, shakedown, Rebel Yell classices. At the moment we are starting a collection of old unused Vinyl so if you have a box in the loft or under the stairs or you have gone to download we will give your old records a spin and a nice home.Resdients Brian and Louis are joined by special guests Paul O'Neill, Peter Atkins, Eoin Lacey, and Eleanor Butler. Admission is free.
