Having starred in The American Office, where she was also a writer, Mindy Kaling comes with a good comedy pedigree as regards her own first solo project. She stars as a thirty something in Manhattan who works in a medical practise as a doctor. She seems to have it all but because she lives in a strange fantasy land most of the time she seems to always be unhappy. She thinks that she should be living some sort of romcom lifestyle which is in itself ridiculous and she can never quite figure out why her life doesn't go to plan when she has such an unrealistic role for it in the first place. Even across the pond it seems that most people can't get enough of watching the gypsy way of life and especially their weddings. But over there there are very different ways that gypsies celebrate their nuptials. There are romanichial weddings, roma, romany, british and traveller ways and they all have elements that are very distinct from each other. One thing that isn't so different are the dresses which are as outlandish and covered in rhinestones as you might expect. Another main difference is that the weddings seem much more subdued affairs then they are over here. An interesting case of compare and contrast but you're not missing much if you don't watch the show.
