Each race he ran was a nail biting event as though Tommy is easily one of the brightest stars in Irish athletics he was facing stiff competition from all over Europe. But he made it to the finals in the 400 meters hurdles and you could sense that all over Waterford people were watching with their hearts in their mouths waiting for the gun to go off.

There surely couldn't have been a household where people weren't cheering Tommy on and to see him come home and win the Bronze medal was a brilliant thing.
