Despite the fact that there were a lot of people out braving the cold for the sales the streets of Waterford were relatively quiet over the holiday period. Everyone wishes for a peaceful holiday period at this time of the year and for the majority of people it seems that those wishes came true. While the festive holidays can be a frenetic time of the year this year it seems as if there wasn't much happening at all and for once that can only be a good thing. Not having a lot on at the Christmas and New Years period can do you a serious amount of good and rest and relaxation never a bad thing.

There were a lot of amusements on the streets as well as food stalls and pop up shops alongside the regular ones so there was a good festive air around Waterford city as the Winterval festival kicked in but at the same time it is always good and rewarding to get home to the peace and quiet that this time of the year brings with it.

    HealthCatastropheMary Harney, when she was Minister for Health, many years ago, declared that 300 people on trolleys in hospital corridors was a 'health crisis'. Now here we are in 2018 and we have nearly twice that number of people on trolleys within a hospital system that barely seems able to cope.
