A memo which will bring to a conclusion the pension battle of around 100 former Waterford Crystal contract workers will be brought to Cabinet this week, Minister for Training, Skills and Innovation John Halligan T.D. has confirmed:

“Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar informed me last night (Thursday) that the memo to facilitate the payment of the outstanding pensions will be approved by Cabinet next week. I expect the workers to have their payments within weeks.

“The lengthy delays imposed upon these workers for resolution of their pensions claim - despite a recommendation from Labour Relations Commission Chief Executive Kieran Mulvey – have been quite appalling. However I am delighted that resolution has finally been reached.”
